Cloves

Growing up, I was undiagnosed since no one could figure out my hand condition; I always had the same appearance, even as a baby. It wasn't until I was 12 years old that I was diagnosed with Cloves Syndrome. Other than hating that my hand condition was named after a spice, it was a relief to no longer wonder what was wrong with me. Cloves is a disease that one is born with; it doesn't just spring up in a person, and it doesn't go away at the drop of a hat. While Cloves' condition is different for every person, I was luckily only affected in dominantly my upper limbs. Thus, this causes one hand to be bigger than the other and one forearm to be shorter.

Due to Cloves being so rare, many doctors would not see me, wanted to do tests, or amputate my limbs. Luckily, my mom, or as you all know, Mama Ky, searched for hours to find a hospital that could help me. Finally, she found Boston Children's Hospital, where I have had over 40 surgeries and many hospital visits.

While I will probably always have surgeries, the worst of it is over. I am so incredibly grateful to God that I was not affected worse by Cloves like so many others have. If you are interested in learning more about this medical condition, I suggest visiting the website below!
